Save Floras Lake - Stop The Golf Course
Save Floras Lake - Stop The Golf Course
This site is a collection of resources that you can use to oppose the
Curry County Commissioners' ill-conceived idea to destroy the southern
part of Floras Lake (near Langlois, OR) by building a golf course. The wooded area at the south
end of the lake in the picture above would be replaced by a golf course.
The pygmy forest that would be destroyed is a rare and irreplaceable
ecosystem. For the county to accomplish this plan, they would have to first
gain control of the Cape Blanco airport from the State of Oregon, and also
do a land swap with the State to get the land south of Floras lake.
16 illegal test holes were dug along 8 1/2 miles of trails at Floras Lake State Park this
spring. The Oregon State Police are investigating. If you have *any* information about these illegal test holes,
please contact the Oregon State Police (Sgt. Scott Punch at 541-247-6641 ext. 222, cell 541-531-5910). Finding and prosecuting the
responsible parties would most likely halt the County Commissioners' plan.
